The Gathering Tree

The Gathering Tree is a cultural beacon for the Frogtown/Rondo neighborhoods. It’s a kaleidoscope of patterns etched with the community’s voices who call this neighborhood home. The public art will be an interactive experience featuring augmented reality creatures animated throughout the structure.

Growth is what helps build a community. The idea behind our concept is the old community tree in the center of a village where people connect. Trees play an intricate part in many different cultures around the world. They heal, can be used as food, and provide shelter. We gather and escape to nature when we need to recharge from our daily life. Bringing light into a space creates safety and enlightenment. The main lighting feature will symbolize the community; they are the core pillar that nurtures the tree.

Folklore Studio is a unique team of artists who strive to construct visually captivating concepts and innovative experiences for audiences. We combine vibrantly colored imagery and animation to transport viewers through storytelling. Kao Lee Thao is a visual and public artist. She paints to unlock inspiration and transport viewers to a world of fantasy, reminding us not to forget what imagination can accomplish in life. Community engagement has been the driving force behind her public art. Ash Kubesh is a maker that blends artistic and technical. Started his artistic career creating fluid ceramic forms but wanted to combine new technological advancements and traditional sculpting techniques into a 3D/Stop Motion animation career. His creations aspire to unite mediums by integrating the physical and digital worlds through imaginative presentations.
